The Niagara Region is growing more diverse in creed and religious beliefs and practices. The District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) is committed to fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments that promote acceptance and protect individuals from discrimination and harassment based on the protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code. Creed and/or religion is one of the grounds that is both an individual right and a collective responsibility. The DSBN recognizes and embraces the creed diversity represented in its students, staff, and community members.
As we start our school year, I invite you to share with me your family’s most significant creed-based holiday(s). We will work together through the accommodation request process as Forestview recognizes the importance of families celebrating their creed and/or religious beliefs and practices.
The DSBN has created a Family Guide: Recognizing and Respecting Creed Diversity to support families in requesting accommodations. This guide has also been translated into the following languages; Arabic, French, Hungarian, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Urdu and Vietnamese, which can be viewed on the DSBN Equity webpage. For a list of Days of Significance, please refer to the Days of Significance Calendar.

Parking Lot Update
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas resolving parking lot safety concerns. An immediate short-term solution is that our parking lot is being monitored by the Niagara Falls Parking Violations Division. Bylaw officers will enforce violations by issuing tickets for cars: parked in areas that are NOT considered designated spots, drivers stopped in the Bus lane or drivers not following parking lot signs. Please continue to follow the entry and exit signs in the parking lot at all times.
Thank you for working together to find solutions for parking safety.

This past year has been difficult in many ways, and has impacted us each so differently. We have had to adapt and adjust to constant change, most of which has been outside of our control. Here at DSBN, we believe that overall mental health and well-being play a critical role in school success.
Whether you are concerned about your child's mental wellness or would like information about community supports, our School Social Worker is here to help!
Please reach out to us if you feel that you would like additional information.

About Forestview
The 30 classroom school, on the north side of Forestview Boulevard just west of Kalar Road, will serve students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. The state-of-the-art facility will include a large library resource centre with an adjoining computer lab, and use the latest technologies including fibre optic telecommunications and wireless internet. Students with special needs will receive custom-designed and built facilities, two large gymnasiums with hardwood floors, a stage, change rooms and washrooms will provide opportunities for school and community sports, assemblies and recreational activities. An added benefit to the community is the daycare centre facilities located in our new wing.
This new DSBN school will bring many positive things to Niagara Falls. The modern facilities will provide opportunities for new learning strategies, and the recreational areas will be a great meeting place for the community.
--- Kevin Maves Chair of the District School Board of Niagara
The Name Game
During the month of October, DSBN students, staff and community members found themselves playing the name game. The DSBN needed to name the new elementary school and thought that the community may have a few suggestions.
The response was tremendous. Over 300 suggestions were submitted online, via mail and fax. DSBN Chair Kevin Maves noted that "the community submitted some wonderful suggestions, accompanied by compelling rationale for the new school name. As a result, the committee had a challenging time in making the selection."
Along with trustees, parents, principals and teachers, students on the committee worked very hard to name the school.
Kohl Chambers, a Grade 7 student at Princess Margaret Public School and David Kapetanovic, a Grade 6 student at Kate S. Durdan Public School, took their roles seriously. "If the kids like the name, they will feel proud of their school", explained Kohl. Agreeing, David said, "The name is simple, and it also reminds us to think about the environment."
In the beginning ...
At the construction site ceremony, Kevin Maves, Chair of the District School Board of Niagara said that "The ground-breaking represents all the positive things that the new school will bring to Niagara Falls. The modern facilities will provide opportunities for new learning strategies, and the recreational areas will be a great meeting place for the community."
And so the building of the 18 classroom school began. This state-of-the-art facility includes alarge library resource centre, an adjoining computer lab, and will use the latest technologies.
Students with special needs will receive custom-designed facilities; there will be a large gymnasium with a hardwood floor; there will also be day care facilities.
